You are a huge, big international pop star,
but here in the United States,
people don’t know much about you, just yet.
Well, it’s time to change that.

It’s going to be a great show. It’s a fun show.
Let’s talk about your show.
It is all big, all spectacular, and you’re playing a bunch of different,
very powerful women in this show, right?
Yes, absolutely, absolutely. And the most important thing is
the show, like you said, is very elaborate.
The costumes are great. It’s very sexy, lots of fun,
and I do a lot of interactions with the crowd.
And sometimes I might pull people up onto the stage
and do a little dancing and singing with them.
Love that!

Now, I did some internet digging into your past.
Uh-oh.
Don’t be scared.
Sounds a little scary.
I want to talk about how you got discovered.
Is it true you got discovered on an American Idol type show?
Yes, in Hong Kong.
So that time, I just graduated from high school in San Francisco
and then went back to Hong Kong.
And it was one of those,
“Okay, I’ll just try it out and see what happens,”
because I always loved singing.
And I got second place.
And what did you sing, though?
Which I found very interesting.
I sang my most favorite artist,
which is Whitney Houston’s “Run to You.” That was the song.
Wow.
Yeah, from Bodyguard.
So you really have to belt it out to sing Whitney, right?
Absolutely.
Okay. Also, you were the voice of Mulan. Is that true?
Yes, I was the voice of Mulan, but in the Mandarin version.
In the Mandarin version. Okay.
And actually, my Mandarin is–
when I went to Taiwan, then I learned Mandarin,
because I was born in Hong Kong,
so my main language is Cantonese.
But it was lots of fun.
With Jackie Chan, it was lots of fun.
Very, very nice.
And I also love that you wanted to be a doctor.
I wanted to be– yes, I still do sometimes.
Yes, because my mom’s a doctor.
Okay.
So I grew up in that kind of environment. I wanted to–
Follow in your mom’s footsteps.
Exactly. But then, you know, my mom said,
right now, I’m healing people in a musical way, in a spiritual way.
Yeah, it’s just as good.
And you can heal people in a spiritual way
with the most rockin’ boots I’ve ever seen.
If Cameraman Beck can get the rockin’ boots,
he’s about to get them.
